Yasmani Grandal tripled and Corey Seager launched his 19th homer in the Dodgers 4-2 win over the Colorado Rockies last night. Seager has tied Hanley Ramirez’ HR record for Dodger shortstops in a single-season. Los Dogs are now two games behind the San Francisco Giants. Kenta Maeda earned his tenth win in the contest.
The Dodgers begin their three-game series with the Boston Red Sox tonight at 7:10…Boston are currently two games behind the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays (they’re tied for first in the American League East.)
We’ve heard rumors about the Braves considering nabbing Puig off waivers. They’d cough up some crummy middle reliever, of course…how the mighty have fallen. It looks like Puig won’t be dealing Dibs in Oklahoma City for long.
We keep hearing about Puig’s off-field issues. Are people referring to old reports, because we thought he’d cleaned up his act this year! Have the pampered scribes on the Dodgers payroll been told to downplay any antics this year so that he’d have a better trade value if they had to deal him? We haven’t heard about any issues this year (there was that helicopter incident during Spring Training, but we haven’t heard a peep since then.) Inquiring minds want to know!
Clayton Kershaw is now on the 240-day DL…it’s doubtful we’ll see him until April, folks.
Tonight the Dodgers will send Scott Kazmir to the hill. Like Maeda, he’s been up-and-down all year (and he lost last Saturday)…he may be due for a decent outing (his first inning ERA is over 8 though, yikes). Steven Wright will get the start for Boston.
Will Steven Wright distract the Dodgers with deadpan drollery? Will Scott Kazmir bowl-over Benintendi, Betts, and Bogaerts? Will he best bean-eaters Bradley and Brentz? Stay tuned! Until tomorrow, mirth-seekers!
