We have to give credit where credit is due. Zaidi and Friedman actually made a couple of decent moves before the deadline! Hey, we’re not taking back our stern critiques (Dodger TV had to show footage from the Manny deal in ’08 to illustrate the last time the team actually did something) but the acquisition of Hill (he’ll start as soon as his blister heals) and Reddick improved the team (and none too soon as McCarthy melted down in Colorado last night in the 7-3 loss).
McCarthy’s rough outing is troubling as he (aside from a healthy Hill) is probably Los Dogs’ best starter of late. The Dodgers missed an opportunity to come within a game of the Giants last night (the hated ones lost to the Phillies) against a team they should beat like a drum.
As everyone knows by now, Puig has been demoted to AAA Oklahoma. We hoped he’d be in a Chicago White Sox uniform, and that Sale would be a member of the Dodgers’ starting staff, but it just didn’t work out that way. Instead, el caballo salvaje will be munching on hot dogs at “Wiener Up” in Bricktown. Pampered scribes have been mute as to Puig’s off-the-field issues this year, but apparently there have been some and they’ve factored into his demotion (as well as his subpar play.)
The Dodgers are calling up Brock Stewart (ugh, he was creamed for five runs last time) to face Tyler Anderson today. With the shortage of starters at the Dodgers’ disposal, we’re waiting for the game where Orel Hershiser takes off his headset and trots onto the field for the start. Fernando, maybe?
Will Tyler topple tepid Tinseltown torpedos? Will Brock best the bitter bastards of James W. Denver? Stay tuned! Until next time, mirth-seekers!
