Kershaw earned win number nine against the Giants last night and struck out thirteen. The score was tied going into the ninth inning before young Kris Kringle’s home run blast put the Dodgers ahead for good, 3-2.

Cueto had a decent night as well, he pitched eight innings (as did Kershaw, Jansen pitched the ninth–lookout he’s closing in on Gagne’s save record) and gave up two runs on three hits. Neither starter served up any walks.

Kazmir takes the hill for Los Dogs tonight, the Giants have clobbered him this year but Samardzija hasn’t fared much better versus the Dodgers (Ellis, Grandal, Hernandez, Pederson, Seager, and Utley have all hit at least .333 off the Son of Sam).

Hey! Where did all the hippies go? The changes to S.F.’s image over the decades boggles our minds. Now, they’ve evolved into a top tech town, which is a far better impression than glassy eyed waifs weaving to Scott McKenzie.

All kidding aside, we miss the seedy glory of North Beach. Tom Guido’s Purple Onion was THE place to go back in the day. One’s night wasn’t complete unless Tom G. himself bounced an empty can of Pabst Blue Ribbon off one’s dome. Bands like The Phantom Surfers, The Count Backwards, The Trashwomen, The Makers, and The Brentwoods all made the scene. Old Chinatown was within staggering distance…we can hear the ol’ foghorn now!

Will Scott Kazmir collect Ks from ex-Candlestick crashers? Will Samardzija make sub sandwiches out of SoCal swingers? Will somebody swipe Shannon Smith’s Scrabble scrolls? Stay tuned! Until next time, mirth seekers!
