Odin’s spawn descended upon Dodger Stadium with a fury last night. Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard hammered one over the wall in the third inning, but Thor’s night had just begun. In the fifth, he hit a three-run blast that shook the foundation of Asgard itself.
It’s all the Mets would need. Final score: Mets 4, Dodgers 3.
Los Dogs are 17-17 going into the last of the four-game series, which the Mets now lead 2-1.
Did you know Syndergaard’s walk-up song is The Game of Thrones theme? We here at rascalsoftheravine began to wonder…what does the son of Odin listen to when he’s not mowing down lesser beings?
We caught up with the Asgardian god of thunder himself after the game, and he hipped us to the top 10 songs that he and Loki grew up with.
- The Edgar Winter Group “Frankenstein” Live 1973 at Old Grey Whistle Test
- Amboy Dukes “Journey to the Center of the Mind”
- The Red Crayola “Hurricane Fighter Plane”
- Motorhead “Live to Win”
- Deep Purple “Space Truckin”
- Black Flag “The Bars” (Loki’s favorite)
- MC5 “Black To Comm”
- Rainbow “Death Alley Driver”
- The Seeds “Just Let Go”
- The Stooges “Little Doll”
Whew, they do it right up on Asgard! We figured Thor and Loki would be into space rock, psych, metal, and punk. Can rascalsoftheravine get an interplanetary pass? We need a road trip to Asgard, stat!
Odin himself might just stick around to watch tonight’s mega-matchup: Kershaw vs Colon. Gonzalez has killed Colon in the past (.563 in 16 at bats) but he’s been terrible at home this year (.151 at Dodger Stadium).
Will Bartolo Colon (and his everyman body) dice up dismal Dodger dinging? Will Clayton Kershaw mildly moderate massive Met mashing? Will a sympathetic reader give rascalsoftheravine tricksters a tighter thesaurus? Stay tuned! Until tomorrow, mirth seekers!
